About the Role

Join our Masterton office as an Early Intervention Teacher in a permanent full-time capacity, serving the Wairarapa and Tararua regions. You will play an essential role within the regional Learning Support team by delivering high-quality assistance based on the Ministry's He Pikorua practice framework, which aligns with Te Whariki: Early Childhood Curriculum and Te Whariki a te Kohanga Reo.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional learning support that complies with the Ministry's guiding principles and early childhood education frameworks.
  • Enhance the skills and knowledge of individuals best positioned to aid children’s learning, including parents, teachers, and families.
  • Collaborate closely with families to identify their needs, jointly plan and support interventions, and track implementation progress.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions at crucial developmental stages, such as entry into early childhood education and school.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team when children present with complex needs.

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) and full teacher registration.
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain within four years a Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention.
  • Bring several years of teaching experience and thorough understanding of child development, learning processes, and behavior.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various disabilities and their impact on daily life and teaching in early childhood and home environments.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with learners, families, and educators from diverse backgrounds.
  • Understand and apply Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and tangatawhenuatanga.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
  • Commit to upholding Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Salary and Benefits

The remuneration range for this position is $69,966 to $106,016 annually plus KiwiSaver contributions. Exact salary placement will reflect individual skills and experience.
