Overview
This role, based in Germany, is a leadership position within a clinical research organization focusing on dermatology and rheumatology. It involves overseeing complex global clinical trials, combining operational leadership, therapeutic knowledge, and team guidance to ensure successful delivery of high-value clinical studies in these specialized areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic management of clinical trial portfolios, guiding Project Managers to successfully execute studies.
- Ensure compliance with therapeutic goals, client requirements, standard operating procedures, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH guidelines, and regulatory mandates across all projects.
- Serve as a primary client liaison, fostering effective communication, client satisfaction, and alignment of project goals and outcomes.
- Track study progress, timelines, budgets, resources, risks, and quality, implementing mitigation plans as necessary.
- Oversee financial management of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses.
- Maintain and apply up-to-date expertise in dermatology and rheumatology across all assigned programs.
- Promote continuous operational enhancements, efficiency improvements, and innovative clinical project delivery methods.
- Contribute expertise to proposal development, pricing, client presentations, and business development efforts.
- Lead, mentor, and coach Project Managers, supporting the advancement of project management skills within the team.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Certification such as PMP or PRINCE2 is advantageous.
- A minimum of 15 years' experience in the clinical research industry, with at least 5 years at a Contract Research Organization (CRO).
- At least 10 years of clinical project management experience spanning all stages of clinical studies, including vendor and functional service management.
- Expertise in managing multinational, multicenter Phase III clinical trials with budget oversight and forecasting.
- Experience managing extensive, complex studies involving multiple regions such as North and South America, Europe, APAC, and MENA.
- Proven leadership skills in supervising, mentoring, and coaching project management staff.
- Experience in supporting business development activities including proposals, presentations, and bid defenses.
- Specialized knowledge in dermatology or rheumatology clinical trials is essential.
- Thorough knowledge of GCP and key regulatory guidelines such as FDA and Health Canada.
- Strong abilities in leadership, communication, organization, problem solving, and stakeholder management.
