About the Company
The Singapore Mint is the country’s only coin minting business, focused on creating, producing, and distributing legal tender coins, commemorative coins, medals, medallions, and collectibles that reflect Singapore’s heritage and important milestones.
Role Overview
We are looking for a careful and committed Production Technician (Polishing) to join the production function. This position is a strong opportunity to build niche craftsmanship capabilities in a specialised industry. Selected candidates will receive structured training on the job and may be considered for future growth into other specialist areas, such as engraving and colouring, depending on performance, aptitude, and business requirements.
What You Will Do
- Carry out polishing, buffing, and final surface finishing for coins, medals, medallions, and related items.
- Inspect finished pieces visually to confirm that quality and finishing standards are met.
- Spot and escalate surface flaws, scratches, and other defects.
- Handle products carefully throughout the finishing process to preserve product quality.
- Work according to production procedures, instructions, and quality standards.
- Keep the workstation, equipment, and tools tidy and properly maintained.
- Support day-to-day production work to help meet operational and delivery timelines.
- Comply with workplace safety requirements and company policies.
- Take on additional production duties as directed by supervisors.
Requirements
Applicants should hold an NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or an equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
Backgrounds in Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Jewelry Design, Product Design, Industrial Design, Fine Arts, Metalwork, or similar disciplines are encouraged.
Fresh graduates with relevant coursework, projects, internships, or practical exposure are welcome to apply.
Experience or familiarity with polishing, finishing, metalworking, jewellery making, engraving, model making, restoration, or precision craftsmanship will be an advantage.
Candidates should have strong hand-eye coordination, good attention to detail, and the ability to perform hands-on finishing work comfortably.
The role suits someone who is patient, careful, and focused on quality.
A willingness to learn specialised minting methods and production workflows is important.
Applicants should be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Career Development
Employees may have opportunities to build advanced polishing and finishing expertise, cross-train across specialised production areas, and develop skills in minting and collectible production. Future movement into specialist teams such as Engraving and Coloring may be possible based on business needs and individual aptitude, with long-term career growth available within the organisation.
