About the Role

This position focuses on expanding Vodacom M-Pesa’s presence and commercial performance across the assigned region. The role is centered on driving growth in the customer base, strengthening partner and merchant relationships, and improving revenue share through effective field execution and cross-functional coordination.

You will contribute to regional business planning, support execution of market-facing initiatives, and monitor competition and market movement to keep performance on track.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and roll out a regional commercial plan aligned with the wider M-Pesa annual strategy to deepen and widen distribution and improve customer and revenue outcomes.
  • Lead sales and distribution execution across the region, including wakalas, super agents, and merchants.
  • Work closely with M-Pesa partners to improve performance, support their operations, and help maintain healthy return on investment.
  • Gather and analyze field information to support performance reviews, action plans, and weekly management reporting at regional, territorial, and cluster levels.
  • Create and execute approved tactical plans on a quarterly basis and as needed to sustain growth despite changes in the market.
  • Manage ATL and BTL campaign coordination with relevant stakeholders to strengthen M-Pesa visibility and mobile money usage.
  • Track competitor activity and broader market shifts, then recommend practical mitigation actions to protect the business.

Core Competencies

  • Proven ability to manage outsourced partners toward business outcomes.
  • Strong awareness of customer behavior, competitor moves, and market trends.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Solid experience in sales and distribution, ideally combining FMCG and direct marketing exposure.
  • Strong planning and execution discipline.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in a business-related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in mobile money field sales, including at least 2 years in a senior capacity.
  • Good understanding of mobile financial services, the value chain, distribution structures, and route-to-market models.
  • Hands-on experience in mobile money product penetration and field execution.
  • Ability to perform commercial analysis for mobile money initiatives.
