Job description
Role Overview
This position involves serving as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP The Verne and HMP Portland, where you will contribute to the smooth and safe running of the prison. You will be part of a collaborative team responsible for varied tasks ranging from security checks at the entrance to managing incoming deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring communications including telephone and CCTV.
Key Responsibilities
The role combines desk-based duties with physically active tasks such as lifting and carrying. You will escort vehicles around the prison grounds as part of your responsibilities. Driving is a core aspect of this position, and you must have a valid full UK driving license.

No specific qualifications are required for this post. Ideal candidates possess strong communication skills and can remain composed in high-pressure environments. Being a dependable team player with sound judgement and practical sense is essential. You will be expected to work various shifts, including weekends and nights.
