About the Role
Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Grendon and Springhill, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of a busy prison. This role blends administrative responsibilities with active duties such as conducting security searches, managing deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring communications via phone and CCTV. The position also includes physical tasks like lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles within prison grounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform security and gate searches to maintain prison safety
- Handle incoming deliveries and oversee visitor supervision
- Monitor phone calls and CCTV systems to support security measures
- Conduct physical tasks including moving equipment and escorting vehicles around the site
- Work shifts that include weekends and nights to ensure continuous operational support
- Drive within the prison grounds, requiring a valid UK Driving Licence
Candidate Profile
No formal qualifications are required, but strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential. You should use sound judgment and possess common sense while being an effective team member. Interaction with prisoners is limited but may occur occasionally depending on the site.
