About the Role

This unique opportunity at HMP Grendon and Springhill involves contributing significantly to the operational support of a busy prison environment. As an Operational Support Grade (OSG), you will form part of a collaborative team responsible for ensuring the daily functioning and security of the facility.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform security screening and searches at prison entrances.
  • Manage deliveries entering the site and track goods appropriately.
  • Oversee and guide visitors within the prison premises.
  • Monitor phone calls and keep surveillance via CCTV systems.
  • Take on various active tasks, including escorting vehicles, lifting, carrying, and patrolling throughout the grounds.
  • Support administrative functions, balancing desk-based work with physical responsibilities.
  • Work a mix of shifts (including weekends and nights) to support prison operations around the clock.
  • Driving duties as required; candidates must hold a valid UK driving licence.

  • Good judgement, practicality, and a team-focused approach.
  • Ability to deal with a busy, fast-paced working environment.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence (essential for this location).

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual salary of £29,432.
  • Starting entitlement of 25 days annual leave, rising to 30 days after 10 years (pro-rata).
