Overview
Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service at HMP Isle of Wight as an Operational Support Grade (OSG). This role is essential in aiding the smooth daily operations of a busy prison environment. You will engage in a mix of tasks ranging from security duties and gate searches to visitor supervision, managing deliveries, and monitoring communications via phone calls and CCTV. The job combines desk-based responsibilities with physical activities such as lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles within the prison grounds.
Key Requirements
Driving forms a vital part of this role, so a valid full UK driving licence is mandatory. Prior qualifications are not required; however, the ideal candidate must be an effective communicator capable of maintaining composure in high-pressure situations. Good judgement, common sense, and the ability to work well within a team are crucial for success.
Work Schedule
The position involves shift work across varied hours, including nights and weekends, ensuring continuous support for prison operations.

Compensation and Benefits
- Starting salary at 29,432 per year
- Annual leave of 25 days, increasing to 30 days after 10 years of service (pro-rated)
