Role Overview
As a Prison Support Officer (Operational Support Grade) at HMP Grendon and HMP Springhill, you will contribute significantly to the smooth and secure operation of these busy prisons. The role includes diverse tasks such as overseeing security and conducting searches at the entrance, handling deliveries, supervising visitors, and monitoring phone calls and CCTV systems. This position combines administrative duties with physical activities like lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles within prison grounds.
Candidate Profile
No formal qualifications are necessary; however, having effective communication skills and the ability to remain composed in high-pressure settings is essential. You will be expected to apply sound judgment and demonstrate common sense while being an effective team player to help maintain safety and order.
Working Conditions
The role requires working on a variety of shifts including weekends and nights to ensure continuous operational support. Driving forms a critical part of the role, so possession of a full, valid UK driving license is mandatory.
