About the Role
Join His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) at HMP Wayland. This is an extraordinary job where you will be integral to the daily operations of a busy prison. You will support a team in various functions, including security checks at the gate, managing deliveries, overseeing visitor interactions, and monitoring communications and CCTV footage. This role is dynamic and active, combining administrative tasks with physical duties like lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles across the prison grounds.
Responsibilities
- Perform security and searches at the prison gate.
- Manage and process incoming deliveries.
- Supervise and manage visitor interactions.
- Monitor phone calls and CCTV feeds.
- Conduct physical tasks such as lifting and carrying.
- Escort vehicles within the prison premises.
- Support the overall smooth and safe running of the prison.
Requirements
- No formal qualifications are required.
- Must possess good communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure is essential.
- Demonstrate good judgment and common sense.
- Must be a strong team player.
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends and nights.
