About the Role

Join the Department of Environment and Science in Queensland as a Principal Program Officer, playing a vital role in supporting environmental recovery through government-backed initiatives. This position focuses on executing large scale programs aimed at rehabilitating and restoring rain and flood-impacted ecosystems within Northern and Central Queensland.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves leading the Environmental Recovery Program under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), a joint effort between the Queensland and Australian Governments. You will be responsible for managing a $10 million funding pool dedicated to environmental restoration following significant weather events such as the Monsoon Trough and Cyclones Koji and Narelle. Key duties include engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders—including First Nations communities, government bodies, and natural resource managers—to develop program scope, identify impactful projects, and ensure holistic outcomes. Additionally, you will oversee administrative activities such as project assessment, financial oversight, grant and procurement management, evaluation, reporting, communication, and governance.
