Job description
Job Summary
This fixed-term (12 months) full-time secondment opportunity is available exclusively to current employees of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB). The Practice Development Nurse will provide educational and pastoral support to newly registered nurses and play a pivotal role in coordinating and enhancing staff education, preceptorship programs, and postgraduate training within ABUHB.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Senior Nurse for Education and divisional Practice Educators to plan and develop nursing practice education activities.
- Offer support and guidance to newly qualified nurses through the Preceptorship Programme, including clinical area support and best practice advice for educators and preceptors.
- Contribute to nursing clinical skills training and professional development initiatives such as the Venous Access and Intravenous Administration Programmes.
- Develop and manage training, induction, practice assessor, and practice supervisor programs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policy.
- Work autonomously while liaising with key stakeholders to support workforce recruitment and retention strategies through needs assessment and delivery of induction programs.

Additional Information
- The role is a 37.5 hour/week position based onsite in Cwmbrân, Wales.

- The salary band for this role aligns with NHS Agenda for Change Band 3 and will be updated according to the 2026/2027 pay award effective August 2026.
- The vacancy may be withdrawn if filled through internal redeployment.
