About ABI Rehabilitation

ABI Rehabilitation is a CARF accredited leader in adult brain injury rehabilitation, known for its commitment to quality and evidence-based, person-centered care. Located at the Kenepuru site in Wellington, our service offers a dynamic and progressive environment focused on neurological rehabilitation.

Role Overview

We are seeking a full-time, permanent Physiotherapist to join our inter-professional team, working primarily with clients experiencing acquired brain injuries in an intensive inpatient rehabilitation setting. This role emphasizes clinical practice within neurological rehabilitation but also values diverse rehabilitation experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized physiotherapy assessments and management for clients with acquired brain injury.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized rehabilitation plans and strategies.
  • Provide education and training to clients’ family and whānau to support rehabilitation progress.
  • Contribute to the collection and interpretation of outcome measures to assess client progress.
  • Prepare detailed report writing to document client status and treatment.
  • Engage in ongoing staff development and training initiatives.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • A minimum of two years of physiotherapy experience with current New Zealand registration and practicing certificate.
  • Prior exposure to neurological and brain injury rehabilitation is highly preferred but candidates with relevant experience in other rehabilitation areas are also considered.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation approaches for musculoskeletal, respiratory, and vestibular conditions is a plus.
