Role overview
This on-site role is based in Qatar and supports LOGCAP operations. Working under the Installation Access Supervisor, the clerk uses the Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) to help manage installation access activities that support the U.S. Government mission in Qatar. The role also involves checking different records and documents for alignment with organizational procedures, reviewing access program details, and flagging anything unclear or inconsistent with command guidance.
Key duties
- Issue installation access badges, including enrolling all Locally Employed Persons (LEPs).
- Receive and pass along relevant communications.
- Examine installation access applications in line with U.S. Government policy in Qatar.
- Maintain barment rosters to prevent unauthorized people from entering the installation.
- Track, maintain, inventory, and troubleshoot DBIDS equipment.
- Carry out additional tasks and assignments as needed.
Qualifications and experience
- Education and certifications may be offset by one year of directly related experience for each year of education, if a degree is required.
- Must be eligible for a Common Access Card (CAC), or able to obtain one.
- High school diploma is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Applicant must be at least 21 years old.
- A valid U.S. tourist passport is required.
- A current and valid U.S. driver’s license is required.
- Must be able to satisfy U.S. Government security requirements.
- Must be capable of obtaining a host-country driver’s license.
- A Secret security clearance is required.
- Computer experience is required, along with strong Microsoft Office knowledge.
- Prior DBIDS experience is an advantage.
- Previous deployment experience in Southwest Asia is preferred.
- Strong computer proficiency, interpersonal ability, and oral and written communication skills are essential.
Working conditions
The work environment may be extremely demanding, with temperatures that can exceed 120°F. The position may involve indoor and outdoor work in harsh desert conditions, including heat, dryness, dust, and average temperatures of about 30°F in winter and up to 130°F in summer. Some industrial-production-type conditions may also be present.
Physical demands
This is a light-work role, with exertion of up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or minimal force continuously. The job may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, long periods of standing or sitting, and work around potential physical, chemical, or biological exposures.
Safety requirements
Use of personal protective equipment may be required in certain situations, including head, foot, torso, respiratory, eye, and hearing protection. The employee must also follow all fire and safety regulations and post-specific policies.
