About the Role
V2X Inc. is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team in Doha, Qatar. This role is crucial for developing and enhancing our Environmental Programs. You will be instrumental in implementing hazardous material and waste management protocols, conducting site inspections to identify environmental risks and non-compliance, and recommending corrective actions. Your responsibilities will also include testing water and wastewater quality and contributing to recycling initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor adherence to Environmental Management practices in the workplace.
- Advise personnel on environmental compliance matters and generate inspection reports.
- Conduct workplace visits to ensure environmental compliance.
- Maintain and update relevant databases and reports.
- Perform testing of drinking water and wastewater to verify compliance with USG and Host Nation standards.
- Collect recyclable materials to support the Qualified Recycling Program (QRP).
- Assist in the management of free-issue hazardous materials and recyclable commodities.
- Receive and store hazardous waste according to EPA and DOT regulations.
- Participate actively in all Quality and Safety programs as assigned.
- Develop and deliver environmental training materials, including environmental, safety, and health training sessions.
- Present the environmental component of new employee orientation.
- Engage in Environmental Working Groups.
- Serve as a role model by strictly adhering to all ESH regulations, policies, procedures, and practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
- Undertake other duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma with a minimum of 6 years of relevant environmental work experience, or an Associate's degree with 2-3 years of environmental work experience.
- A military background and familiarity with US Army environmental regulations, safety and health standards, and environmental guidance documents are advantageous.
- Preference for college-level environmental-related coursework.
- HAZWOPER certification (40-hour or 24-hour) is desirable.
- Must possess full fluency and literacy in English, enabling comprehension of written orders, training materials, report writing, and effective communication with US Military (Army) and contracting personnel.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a local driver's license.
- Preferred: Associate's Degree in environmental, safety, health, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of advanced education and four years of experience.
- OSHA 30-hour construction course (CFR 1926) is mandatory. NEBOSH Training/certification is a plus.
Experience
- A minimum of two years of experience as an environmental, safety, and health inspector or specialist within the construction industry.
- Firsthand knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and CFR 1926 OSHA Standards.
- Experience with safety compliance programs and hazardous material management, including environmental compliance.
- Familiarity with DOD, Army, EPA, and Federal regulations.
- Military background and training are beneficial.
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Project management software.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Capacity to follow written instructions and interpret ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management Systems) protocols.
