Aircraft Washer - AHTS Program - NAS Whiting Field

Role Overview

This position supports aircraft washing and ground operations at NAS Whiting Field in Milton, Florida. The role involves preparing aircraft for cleaning, operating support equipment, maintaining safety and documentation standards, and helping keep the work area organized and compliant with contract and government requirements.

Key Duties

• Run ground support equipment as needed for the job.
• Use portable firefighting equipment when required.
• Support the line move crew while aircraft are moving inside the hangar.
• Get aircraft ready for washing by taping vent areas and fitting all required protective covers.
• Clean and rinse the outside and inside surfaces of aircraft and related components to remove grease, dirt, oil, fungus, and staining.
• Polish and clean windshields and canopies using water, cleaning compounds, polishing materials, and cloths.
• Carry out pre-wash and post-wash lubrication and related procedures.
• Record completed work in government and company electronic systems and/or manual records.
• Keep the work center and assigned area clean and orderly.
• Follow all applicable Foreign Object Damage prevention rules and requirements.
• Comply with the Tool Control Program.
• Observe all applicable general and industrial safety rules tied to the contract, facilities, and assigned work.
• Support the line move crew during hangar operations when needed.
• If management directs and the collective bargaining agreement allows, perform Lead duties.
• Carry out other related tasks within the job classification.
• Help protect the safety, security, inventory, and preservation of government-owned and company-owned equipment.

Work Conditions

The job may be performed in a range of environments, from relatively comfortable indoor settings to outdoor conditions with severe weather changes such as heat, wind, and rain. The role may also involve high-noise areas, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and potential electrical shock hazards.

Physical Requirements

The position involves climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking, and working in uncomfortable or tiring positions. Lifting objects up to 50 pounds may be required.

Qualifications

• One year of relevant experience may be accepted in place of one year of education if a degree is required.
• Aircraft Towing Certification.
• GSE licensing.
• Airfield Operators License.
• Valid state driver license.
• Physical examination as required by the NAVAIR 3710.1 series.
• Ability to obtain and keep a DoD security clearance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills for compiling, analyzing, evaluating, and presenting data using statistical and research methods.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Formal schooling required.

Experience

• Three months of aviation maintenance and/or flight line experience is preferred.
• All other qualification standards required by the government contract must also be met.

Additional Information

This role may require the employee to perform lead duties at management’s discretion under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

The position also includes responsibility for supporting the safety, security, inventory, and preservation of both government-owned and company-owned equipment.
