Palliative Care Health Care Support Worker

Overview

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is seeking a dedicated Health Care Support Worker passionate about working within a proactive nursing team to provide complementary therapies for patients receiving palliative care. The role involves managing individual caseloads within secondary care across multiple hospital sites, including Grange University Hospital, Nevill Hall Hospital, Royal Gwent Hospital, and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of palliative care patients in a secondary care setting, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, including rotating weekend duties.
• Deliver a variety of Complementary Therapy treatments to patients under the Palliative Care Team's supervision.
• Provide planned patient care according to instructions from trained healthcare professionals.
• Support Clinical Nurse Specialists and Medical staff in the care of palliative patients.

Qualifications and Skills

• Essential: NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or related disciplines.
• Possession of a nationally recognized qualification in at least one Complementary Therapy or equivalent certification from a reputable private college or training institute.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of the complex nature of palliative care.
• Welsh language skills at Level 1 or willingness to develop proficiency is advantageous.
• Flexibility to work across multiple hospital sites to ensure continuous service delivery.
