About the Role
The Dermatology Department is seeking a driven and enthusiastic Medical Secretary to join their consultant support team. This fixed-term position, lasting 12 months, plays a vital role in delivering a high-quality service to patients by providing comprehensive secretarial support to consultants, junior doctors, and nursing staff. The role requires organizing, planning, and prioritizing various administrative tasks efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a full range of secretarial services including typing, audio and digital dictation.
- Provide administrative assistance and cover for colleagues when necessary to meet service demands.
- Manage and prioritize workload independently within a busy medical environment.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection standards.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical secretarial roles with strong clerical and administrative skills.
- Competency with Microsoft Office and relevant medical databases.
- RSA III or equivalent keyboard skills are essential.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and audio typing experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt flexibly to work demands and deadlines.
- Welsh language skills are desirable but not mandatory; applicants who speak English and/or Welsh are welcome.
- Experience working within a hospital environment and familiarity with hospital computer systems is advantageous.
