About the Role

The Pae Tukutuku position plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient daily workings of the Māori Land Court, significantly impacting the lives of tangata whenua. Located in the Tairāwhiti District (Gisborne), this role centers around handling applications related to Māori Land. An essential requirement is holding a full and clean driver's license.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial contact point, assisting with verifying that applications submitted through Pataka Whenua are complete and of high quality to enable their processing.
  • Respond to enquiries received in person, via the website, or through email.
  • Support the setup and management of the Court’s dispute resolution facilitation processes.
  • Draft official submissions and reports using the Court's records.
  • Conduct whakapapa research to identify ownership details.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong frontline and written customer service experience, with excellent interpersonal skills allowing for tact and discretion.
  • Proficient computer skills combined with strong written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • A good understanding of cultural values, especially Tikanga Māori, and sensitivity to related issues.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to assist broadly in various business areas relevant to the Pae Tukutuku role.
