About the Role

The Family Court Co-Ordinator plays an essential role in supporting the operation of the Family Court by coordinating specialized services. This position involves managing relationships with court management, judiciary, service providers, legal professionals, court users, and community groups. The role is based within the Domestic Violence Programmes Team, which supports District Courts across New Zealand by ensuring timely management of domestic violence programs in both Family and Criminal Court settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate specialist services to aid the smooth functioning of Family Court operations.
  • Manage and maintain effective relationships with court management, judiciary, legal practitioners, service providers, court users, and community groups.
  • Support the Domestic Violence Team by facilitating timely handling of domestic violence programs in multiple court jurisdictions.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Capacity to manage multiple competing priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivation and a high degree of initiative in task management.
  • Commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Experience or knowledge of Family Court procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Analytical abilities to interpret and apply legislation accurately.
  • Proficient computer literacy skills.
