Job description
Role Overview
This newly established Service Lead position at the Coroners Court within the Ministry of Justice is tasked with delivering operational and business management support for the Clinical Advisor team. The incumbent will ensure that appropriate systems, workflows, staffing, and support frameworks facilitate effective clinical advisory services.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborating closely with the Chief Clinical Advisor and the SEECC Unit, the Service Lead will oversee planning, coordination, management, and ongoing enhancement of the Clinical Advisor function. Responsibilities include developing and implementing business processes and operational initiatives aimed at improving service quality, standardization, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
The position leads key business operations such as workforce planning, HR, financial management, knowledge and information oversight, IT systems, and administrative support. Offering trusted operational counsel to the Chief Clinical Advisor, the role ensures responsiveness, sustainability, and alignment with service demands.
A core focus involves nurturing a cooperative and high-performance team culture and cultivating strong relationships within the Clinical Advisor unit, the Coroners Court, and broader Ministry stakeholders to meet service goals effectively.
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in providing operational and business advice within medium to large organizations.
- Experience designing and executing business process enhancements.
- Capability to utilize performance metrics to guide decision-making.
- Proficient in preparing high-quality written reports and presentations.
- Adaptable to shifting priorities with effective influence.
- Strong skills in spreadsheet and data systems, including Excel, enabling data trend analysis and informed recommendations.
- Knowledge and commitment to developing understanding of te reo and tikanga Māori.
Prior experience in health sector roles and familiarity with public sector processes will be advantageous.

Salary
The annual salary for this position ranges from $99,208 to $127,683, pro-rated to part-time hours, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
