Job Overview
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is hiring a motivated and professional Receptionist to join the Ophthalmology Department's reception team at Frimley Park Hospital. This role involves thriving in a busy and demanding environment while providing outstanding administrative assistance. The successful candidate will act as the primary contact point for patients and clinical staff, ensuring smooth reception operations.
The role includes managing telephone inquiries, scheduling appointments, and maintaining precise records. Ideal applicants are detail-focused, well-organized, enthusiastic, and possess strong interpersonal and time management abilities. Maintaining professionalism and calmness under pressure is crucial.
Main Responsibilities
- Operate on the front line reception in the Eye Treatment Centre between 1-5 pm, Monday to Friday.
- Interact directly with patients and handle incoming phone calls.
- Arrange follow-up and outstanding appointments promptly, including those related to the emergency clinic on a rotating basis.
- Deliver high-quality support to both patients and internal staff, ensuring a friendly and polite greeting to all visitors.
- Contribute to the seamless functioning of the outpatient reception area.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Experience working with the public and providing excellent customer service.
- Previous clerical or administrative experience is essential.
- Passes in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent qualifications.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong administrative capabilities with great organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication talents.
- Ability to multitask efficiently and maintain composure in busy settings.
- Experience working with various Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Desired Knowledge
- Familiarity with NHS systems such as PAS, E-referrals (formerly Choose and Book), and Enlighten Self Check-in is advantageous.
