Operations Supervisor

Position Overview

This role is a frontline supervisory position dedicated to supporting the FedEx Express commitment to safety and overseeing daily sorting operations along with a team of Cargo Handlers within a station environment. The Operations Supervisor guides employees in effective package handling, routing, and manages recovery efforts for any potential service disruptions occurring within the station's sorting function.

Key Responsibilities

Oversight is provided for all Cargo Handlers' duties, which includes directing daily work activities, mentoring, coaching, and training team members. The supervisor ensures compliance with corporate policies, government regulations, and administrative processes. Efficient resolution of operational conflicts and timely decision making in high-pressure situations are essential.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must have a college degree and either two years of experience in FedEx sort operations or in a senior hourly role, or alternatively, two years experience in a supervisory position within a related industry. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory, alongside the ability to lift items up to 70 pounds manually and safely handle packages up to 150 pounds using equipment.

Completion of basic and recurring training including Dangerous Goods certification is required. The ability to mentor and empower others, prioritize tasks effectively, resolve conflicts constructively, and communicate clearly with empathy is critical. Candidates should also have strong organizational, planning, and analytical capabilities, with a mindset inclined towards simplifying processes without compromising quality.

Applicants must meet minimum standards for tests and training and fulfill shift requirements based on operational needs.
