Overview
As a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks Store #82231 located in Victoria, British Columbia, you will support the store manager in managing store functions during your scheduled shifts. This leadership role involves delegating tasks to team members to deliver the Starbucks Experience by offering exceptional customer service, preparing quality beverages and food items, and maintaining a welcoming, clean store environment. You will be expected to embody Starbucks' core values and contribute positively to the workplace culture.
Primary Responsibilities
- Uphold integrity, honesty, and values promoting Starbucks' culture and mission.
- Maintain composure during peak periods or unforeseen events to ensure smooth store operations and serve as a role model for the team.
- Proactively observe and assess customer and store needs to anticipate requirements.
- Communicate vital information to the store manager enabling team responsiveness to create the welcoming "Third Place" atmosphere each shift.
- Support new partner training by reinforcing success and delivering respectful, constructive coaching.
- Provide store manager with feedback regarding partner performance during shifts.
- Help foster a positive team environment by recognizing shifts in partner morale or performance and reporting concerns.
- Offer clear, specific, timely, and respectful coaching to ensure excellence in operations and enhanced partner performance.
- Deliver exceptional customer service with a customer-first mindset, connecting personally with patrons.
- Identify and address customer needs promptly.
- Build positive relationships with team members by understanding individual motivations and concerns.
- Lead store operations efficiently during scheduled shifts, including organizing opening and closing duties as assigned.
- Adhere strictly to operational policies, cash handling, and safety protocols to ensure partner safety and compliance.
- Ensure shift team follows proper cash register and cash management procedures.
- Guide baristas to consistently provide legendary customer service throughout the shift.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
- Ensure production of quality beverages, whole bean, and food products following recipe and presentation standards.
- Comply with health, safety, and sanitation standards for all products.
- Recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements using organizational tools and collaborate with store manager to develop innovative recognition methods.
- Utilize operational tools effectively to maintain operational excellence during shifts.
Experience and Skills
- Prior customer service experience in retail or restaurant settings.
- Strong ability to direct and coordinate the work of others.
- Quick learner capable of adapting to new tasks rapidly.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of retail environment operations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively within a team.
