Role Overview
Join the team at HMP Isle of Wight as an Operational Support Grade where you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and secure daily operations of a busy prison environment. Your role spans a wide range of duties including security tasks like gate searches, managing deliveries, overseeing visitor activity, as well as monitoring telephone and CCTV systems. The position balances desk-based tasks with physically active responsibilities such as lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles across the prison grounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct security searches and manage entrance gates.
- Supervise visitors and regulate delivery processes.
- Monitor communications including phone calls and CCTV footage.
- Perform physical activities including lifting and escorting vehicles throughout the premises.
- Drive within prison grounds as part of essential duties, necessitating a valid full UK driving licence.
- Work varied shifts encompassing nights and weekends to maintain continuous operations.
Qualifications and Skills
This position does not mandate formal qualifications; however, effective communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure are crucial. A collaborative spirit and sound judgment are essential to help maintain safety and efficiency within the prison.
