Job description
Overview
Join ABI Rehabilitation New Zealand, the leading provider of intensive adult inpatient brain injury rehabilitation, located in the Kenepuru area of Wellington. This full-time occupational therapist role invites passionate professionals to support patients recovering from brain injuries, helping them regain independence through a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach.
Role Responsibilities
- Deliver occupational therapy interventions from immediate post-acute stages through to community reintegration.
- Perform cognitive and functional assessments tailored to brain injury rehabilitation.
- Set and monitor meaningful goals with clients.
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions.
- Assess and trial supportive equipment, including wheelchairs and seating solutions.
- Provide education to clients and their families/whānau regarding rehabilitation processes and care.
- Facilitate community reintegration and manage graduated returns to home environments.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of two years clinical experience preferred, especially in acquired brain injury rehabilitation, though all experience levels will be considered.
- Excellent communication and clinical reasoning skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to professional development and willingness to engage in ongoing supervision and training.
