Job description
Role overview
The Night Porter plays a key part in keeping hotel operations smooth from evening through to morning. This is a practical, guest-facing position focused on maintaining service quality, protecting brand standards, and ensuring the property is ready for the next day.
Working hours and contract
The role is offered on a full-time basis, with 40 hours per week. The working pattern follows a 4 days on / 4 days off rotation. The hotel operates every day of the year, so flexibility across shift days and times is important. Shift arrangements and contracted hours can be discussed at interview.
Pay
Pay is £13.67 per hour, with additional TRONC / service charge.
Key duties
During the night, you will take charge of Food & Beverage operations and help ensure everything runs efficiently while guests are asleep. You will greet visitors warmly, respond to queries, keep public spaces clean and presentable, and get meeting and event areas ready for the following day.
The role also includes helping guests with luggage, completing overnight health and safety checks, and making sure the hotel remains safe, orderly, and welcoming through the night.
Experience and suitability
Previous experience in a similar position is an advantage, and prior night-shift experience is essential. The right person will be well organised, confident communicating with others, and comfortable working independently in a busy hospitality environment.
Training and progression
The employer offers nationally recognised apprenticeships alongside structured brand training. There are also opportunities to develop into Night Supervisor or Assistant Night Manager positions.
Benefits and perks
In addition to the hourly pay and service charge, the role comes with a range of employee benefits and discounts.
Additional benefits
- Service charge / TRONC is shared with staff.
- Meals are provided during shifts, and break time is paid.
- Annual salary review.

- Fully funded apprenticeship programmes to support career growth.
