Description de l'emploi

Role overview

The Night Porter plays a key part in keeping hotel operations smooth from evening through to morning. This is a practical, guest-facing position focused on maintaining service quality, protecting brand standards, and ensuring the property is ready for the next day.

Working hours and contract

The role is offered on a full-time basis, with 40 hours per week. The working pattern follows a 4 days on / 4 days off rotation. The hotel operates every day of the year, so flexibility across shift days and times is important. Shift arrangements and contracted hours can be discussed at interview.

Pay

Pay is £13.67 per hour, with additional TRONC / service charge.

Key duties

During the night, you will take charge of Food & Beverage operations and help ensure everything runs efficiently while guests are asleep. You will greet visitors warmly, respond to queries, keep public spaces clean and presentable, and get meeting and event areas ready for the following day.

The role also includes helping guests with luggage, completing overnight health and safety checks, and making sure the hotel remains safe, orderly, and welcoming through the night.

Experience and suitability

Previous experience in a similar position is an advantage, and prior night-shift experience is essential. The right person will be well organised, confident communicating with others, and comfortable working independently in a busy hospitality environment.

Training and progression

The employer offers nationally recognised apprenticeships alongside structured brand training. There are also opportunities to develop into Night Supervisor or Assistant Night Manager positions.

Benefits and perks

In addition to the hourly pay and service charge, the role comes with a range of employee benefits and discounts.

Additional benefits

  • Service charge / TRONC is shared with staff.
  • Meals are provided during shifts, and break time is paid.
  • Annual salary review.
  • 4 on / 4 off shift patterns available.
  • Substantial discounts on staff room rates at Malmaison, Hotel du Vin, and Frasers Hospitality, with rooms from £65 per night.
  • Discounted friends and family room rates, with 50% off the best available rate.
  • 35% discount when dining in the company’s brasseries and bistros.
  • Fully funded apprenticeship programmes to support career growth.
  • Access to high street discounts across shops, experiences, and holidays.
  • Cycle-to-work scheme offering savings of up to 40% on bikes.
  • Healthcare cash plans covering dental, optical, medical, and more, from £5 per month.
  • Referral bonus of up to £1,500 for successful recommendations.
  • Uniform provided.
  • Wellness and national awareness campaign calendar with activities and treats throughout the year.
  • Wagestream access for real-time pay tracking and the option to access up to 50% of earned wages.
  • Complimentary dinner, bed, and breakfast stays on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th work anniversary.
  • Partnership with The Brain Charity.
  • Employee Assistance Programme with free, confidential support for employees and their families, available 24/7.

Sustainability and community commitments

  • All electricity is sourced from renewable energy, with most generated by UK wind farms.
  • A minimum of 70% of hotel waste is recycled.
  • The bedrooms and public areas use a chemical-free cleaning system.
  • The kitchens use an enzyme-based eco-friendly cleaning system.
  • Employees can volunteer for sustainable charities for 2 days per year on full pay instead of normal work duties.

Equal opportunity statement

The employer welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or age.
