Job description

Role overview

This opportunity is for a National Accounts Director focused on Walmart and club retail business within a better-for-you snack brand that is growing quickly. The role is centered on building retailer partnerships, shaping customer strategy, and driving disciplined execution across a developing national account portfolio. You will work closely with senior leadership, including the SVP of Sales, to strengthen key customer relationships and support the brand’s expansion at an important stage of growth.

The position is suited to someone who enjoys being both strategic and highly involved in the details of account management. It combines commercial planning, relationship ownership, and cross-functional coordination to help the business scale effectively in a competitive category.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of major retail accounts, with primary focus on Walmart and potential support for club channels and selected regional customers depending on business needs and experience.
  • Drive account strategy, customer relationships, and sell-in activity for assigned retailers, including buyer meetings, presentations, innovation planning, and ongoing business development.
  • Work with internal leaders to shape go-to-market plans for major retailers so they align with company goals, growth opportunities, and retailer requirements.
  • Handle broker partnerships as a supporting extension of the sales team while keeping direct control of the customer strategy and core retail relationships.
  • Coordinate across internal functions to support account execution, including trade planning, promotions, innovation, digital commerce, and operational readiness.
  • Interpret sales data and performance trends to build a strong commercial narrative, surface opportunities, and support recommendations that improve results.
  • Navigate the snack category’s complexity, including different routes to market, customer expectations, and the nuances of selling through direct, distributor, and broker-supported models.
  • Operate as a hands-on commercial lead who can balance strategic planning with day-to-day account work while supporting the company’s scaling efforts.

Requirements

  • Background in consumer packaged goods sales, especially within snacks.
  • Deep familiarity with Walmart, with enough experience to manage the relationship confidently alongside internal teams and brokers.
  • Experience in either a fast-growing brand environment or a larger, more structured organization, with the ability to apply that judgment in a scaling business.
  • Strong knowledge of the snack category, including customer dynamics, market routes, and trade and promotion considerations that affect performance.
  • Experience working with brokers, distributors, and direct retail accounts, using those partners as support while retaining ownership of the business.
  • Ability to create customer presentations, lead buyer conversations, and use data to support storytelling, recommendations, and account plans.
  • Hands-on working style with comfort staying close to account details while also managing broader commercial strategy.
  • Additional exposure to club retailers or regional accounts such as H-E-B, Meijer, Publix, or Target is considered a plus.
  • Ability to show personal commercial impact, not just results that came from being associated with a strong brand.
  • Leadership style that balances ambition, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Comfort in a culture that values the way outcomes are achieved, not only the outcomes themselves.
  • Practical problem-solving approach with attention to detail and awareness of the wider account strategy.

Why this role stands out

You will join a business at a meaningful stage of expansion, with increasing retail presence and the chance to help shape how the sales organization evolves. The role offers real ownership of important customer relationships and close collaboration with experienced leaders in a high-expectation, team-oriented environment.

The company’s mission is centered on helping people spend more time outside, and it also supports charitable giving through a portion of revenue directed to organizations doing meaningful work in the community. The position includes bonus eligibility, equity participation, healthcare coverage support, and a flexible time-off approach, with further details shared during the interview process.
