Job description

Overview

This is not a position with ForceBrands. A premium consumer products company is looking for a Fractional Chief Marketing Officer to lead its marketing function through an important transition. The assignment is a 3–6 month contract, offered remotely with occasional travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Chicago-area candidates are preferred.

The role is designed for a practical, execution-oriented marketing executive who can quickly understand the business, bring structure to an established team, and keep active initiatives moving while the organization searches for a permanent CMO. This is not intended as a turnaround or a major brand reinvention mandate.

What the role involves

You will act as the senior marketing leader, working closely with executive leadership and guiding an existing team across brand, digital, ecommerce, retail marketing, and social media.

  • Lead the marketing team on a daily basis with coaching, direction, and accountability.
  • Create clear priorities and a reliable operating cadence for the department.
  • Keep in-flight campaigns and strategic projects on track and completed effectively.
  • Oversee social, content, and influencer initiatives to deepen brand connection.
  • Build and manage the annual marketing plan, including goals, channel mix, budget, KPIs, and calendar.
  • Own the marketing budget and work with Finance to track results and improve spending effectiveness.
  • Assist with commercialization, product launches, and go-to-market execution across business channels.
  • Strengthen project management practices using Asana or a similar tool to improve visibility and teamwork.
  • Work across Sales, Ecommerce, Product Development, Finance, and executive stakeholders to maintain alignment.
  • Review marketing and demand performance data, then recommend changes that improve outcomes.

Required experience

  • At least 15 years of steadily increasing marketing leadership experience at the CMO, VP Marketing, or a comparable level.
  • Background in consumer packaged goods, food and beverage, wellness, lifestyle, or premium consumer brands.
  • Track record of leading strong marketing teams in consumer products environments.
  • Solid expertise in brand, digital, ecommerce, social media, and content strategy.
  • Experience creating integrated marketing plans and overseeing multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional work while improving team coordination and operational efficiency.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including putting processes in place that improve accountability and delivery.

Preferred background

  • Exposure to omnichannel marketing across retail, ecommerce, and away-from-home channels.
  • Experience with influencer programs and community-building strategies.
  • Prior work in interim, fractional, or consulting leadership roles.
  • Familiarity with Asana, Monday.com, or similar project management software.

Engagement details

The contract runs for 3–6 months and may lead to a permanent hire.

Location is in the Chicago area, with remote work and periodic travel to Milwaukee, WI.
