Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and security of the site, protecting Defence personnel, visitors, and property.
  • Conduct foot and vehicle patrols to enforce security regulations.
  • Manage access control by verifying credentials, issuing passes, and escorting visitors.
  • Carry out comprehensive searches of vehicles, baggage, and individuals.
  • Respond promptly to incidents by assessing risks, handling breaches, and escalating when necessary.
  • Provide professional assistance to employees and visitors on site.
  • Operate security systems including CCTV, alarms, and communication equipment.
  • Oversee traffic and parking to maintain safe site access.
  • Keep detailed security logs and document incidents accurately.

Requirements

The role demands excellent communication and organizational abilities, capability to work independently and collaboratively, physical fitness for long periods of standing and patrolling, and high alertness for quick responses.

Working Hours and Shift Pattern

This position is day-shift rostered, requiring 48 hours weekly (43 net hours excluding meal breaks). Shifts are five days per week with 9.6-hour durations between 07:00 and 23:30, scheduled over seven days. The roster includes flexible weeks where shifts and days may be adjusted with a minimum of 48 hours notice. Specific shift details will be provided during interview.

Training and Progression

All new recruits complete a mandatory two-week residential Foundation Course, including Emergency First Aid training, followed by on-the-job structured guidance. Continuous professional development is supported through annual online learning and dedicated workforce development resources.

Additional Information

  • No relocation allowances are available for this role.
  • The MOD is reviewing pay-related allowances which might affect current entitlements.
