Job description

Overview

The 78 Squadron, located at NATS Swanwick in Hampshire, is seeking a personable individual to serve as the HIVE Information Officer. This role emphasizes a strong focus on welfare and people-centric activities, closely working with the People & Families Support Officer and coordinating multiple family and personnel-focused events throughout the year. This position is part-time, requiring approximately 20 hours weekly.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage administration and upkeep of customer-facing aspects related to Families Welfare Grant funding activities within the unit.
  • Serve as the primary contact point for welfare accommodation bookings in the absence of the clerk.
  • Perform Deputy Building Custodian responsibilities and oversee administration of community facilities.
  • Organize and facilitate a weekly coffee morning event for families.
  • Act as the main contact for advertising unit and community events, ensuring timely promotion via all designated channels such as e-bulletins and Microsoft Teams.
  • Provide administrative support for the unit's entertainment group.
  • Support community and volunteer group promotions and research local activities and opportunities for serving personnel and their families.
  • Participate actively in committees and working groups including the People and Families Support Working Group, Families Day Committee, and Engagement.
  • Maintain visible presence and contribute to briefings across the station including non-formed units, formed units, and families’ briefings as directed.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be highly people-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills to quickly build effective relationships with both civil service colleagues and military members. Prior experience within the military environment, especially previous involvement with HIVE, is essential. Familiarity with tri-service support networks is advantageous due to the unit's unique structure.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • Annual salary of 27866.
  • Employer contribution of 8072 towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme, totaling 28.97% employer contribution.

Additional Information

  • No relocation expenses will be covered.
