Role Overview
This position is offered by a partner organisation based in Ireland seeking a Member of Engineering specializing in multimodality research leadership. The role focuses on pioneering multimodal capabilities that enhance next-generation artificial intelligence systems.
The successful candidate will create and expand a novel research domain centered on advanced visual comprehension and interaction within AI. This opportunity blends hands-on research, high-quality engineering practices, and strategic leadership in a pivotal AI competency area.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the strategic direction and delivery of multimodal research projects.
- Drive adoption and integration of multimodal functionalities into forefront AI models.
- Develop and deploy initial image input capabilities for sophisticated coding and autonomous agent systems.
- Chart the progression from adapter-based methods towards fully integrated multimodal model architectures.
- Design and conduct comprehensive experiments across all research stages including hypothesis setting, implementation, large-scale training, and results analysis.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams working on evaluation, architecture, data management, and post-training processes.
- Create specialized datasets and evaluation methodologies to assess multimodal capabilities in software engineering contexts.
- Contribute to establishing a new research division that balances innovative approaches with effective project delivery.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in machine learning demonstrated by experience with end-to-end training of production-level vision-language models.
- Deep knowledge of large language model frameworks such as transformers and handling distributed training at scale.
- Advanced expertise in Python programming and practical implementation of machine learning solutions.
- Self-driven ability to navigate ambiguous, rapidly evolving environments and devise actionable solutions.
- Expertise in experimental research design and data analysis.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams to execute complex AI initiatives collaboratively.
- Leadership or foundational project-building track record with comprehensive ownership and technical involvement.
- Prior experience or strong interest in vision-language models, multimodal model challenges, or agentic computer system technologies is highly advantageous.
