Overview

The Institute for Animal Hygiene and Public Veterinary Medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Leipzig University, invites applications for the position of Medical Technical Assistant (m/w/d/x).

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform microbiological, molecular-biological, and virological diagnostics, including serology and molecular biology methods, primarily focusing on bacteriology.
  • Handle culture media and bacterial cultures for isolating and identifying bacteria from various sample materials.
  • Conduct disinfectant efficacy tests in accordance with DVG and other testing guidelines.
  • Operate, maintain, and service the institute’s equipment and instruments.
  • Prepare materials to support student education and training activities.
  • Manage the preparation of laboratory materials, including inactivation and disposal of laboratory waste.

Candidate Profile

  • Completed professional training as Medical Technical Assistant or an equivalent qualification.
  • Practical experience and skills related to the aforementioned responsibilities are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in PC applications, especially MS Office suite with a strong focus on MS Excel.
  • High commitment, team orientation, and ability to work independently.

Employment Conditions

  • Permanent position with full-time employment (100% workload); part-time arrangements are negotiable.
  • Compensation aligned with pay group 8 TV-L (collective agreement for public service in German federal states).
