Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned Media Relations Manager to oversee media engagement strategies, nurture journalist and media partnerships, and guide external communication efforts. This role involves crafting compelling stories, safeguarding the organization's reputation, coordinating media functions, and ensuring consistent communication of our brand's core values, accomplishments, and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and execute media relations strategies, communication plans, press engagement structures, and reputation management efforts aligned with the company's goals.
- Establish and maintain robust relationships with journalists, editors, broadcasters, industry outlets, influencers, media agencies, and other essential external parties.
- Lead media contacts including press releases, briefings, interviews, press conferences, executive communications, and corporate announcements.
- Work closely with Corporate Communications, Marketing, Government Affairs, Brand Management, Public Relations, Human Resources, Legal, and Executive Leadership to deliver unified communication strategies.
- Create engaging content such as press releases, media statements, briefing documents, talking points, executive speeches, Q&A resources, and media kits.
- Track media coverage, public perception, market trends, competitor communication strategies, and potential reputational risks to deliver strategic insights and recommendations.
- Oversee crisis communication processes including rapid response, media monitoring, issue management, and stakeholder communication during sensitive instances.
- Implement media governance protocols, communication standards, approval workflows, brand messaging guidelines, and reporting systems.
- Monitor key performance indicators such as media coverage quality, share of voice, sentiment analysis, audience reach, engagement rates, campaign impact, and brand reputation metrics.
- Organize media events, interviews, industry conferences, executive appearances, product launches, and public relations campaigns.
- Manage partnerships with PR agencies, media monitoring services, content creators, journalists, and external communication collaborators.
- Drive digital evolution in media intelligence through platforms such as social listening tools, AI-derived content analytics, automated reporting, and data-centric communication approaches.
- Use media monitoring tools, CRM systems, Microsoft Office and 365 suites, Power BI, social media analytics platforms, and communication management software to evaluate impact and deliver insights.
- Prepare media reports, reputation dashboards, executive briefings, communication analyses, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
- Lead and mentor media relations specialists, communication coordinators, and cross-departmental stakeholders promoting transparency, cooperation, innovation, and continual development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Media Studies, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Advanced degrees or professional certifications in Public Relations, Strategic Communications, Corporate Communications, Digital Marketing, Crisis Management, or related fields are preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in media relations, public relations, corporate communications, journalism, brand communication, or allied roles.
- At least two years in managing media engagement programs, PR campaigns, or external communication initiatives.
- Thorough knowledge of media relations, PR strategy, corporate reputation management, crisis communication, storytelling, content creation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience collaborating with media organizations, PR agencies, journalists, digital media channels, social media platforms, and corporate communications teams.
- Proficiency with media monitoring platforms, social listening tools, CRM software, Microsoft Office and 365 suites, Power BI, content management systems, and analytics utilities.
- Familiarity with digital communications, influencer relations, AI-based media analytics, brand intelligence platforms, ESG communications, and reputation management technologies is a plus.
- Excellent writing, verbal communication, presentation capabilities, negotiation skills, relationship management, analytical thinking, organizational talent, and problem-solving aptitude.
- Capability to handle multiple media projects while carefully maintaining brand reputation, communication goals, stakeholder expectations, confidentiality, and business priorities.
- Ability to work effectively and independently in remote or hybrid settings, providing support for media events, interviews, crisis situations, and executive engagements as necessary.
