About the Role

As a Manufacturing Maintenance Technician in Athens, GA, you will be a key member of the Plant Maintenance Team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and facilities. You will contribute to achieving customer needs by adhering to ABB's systems and processes, utilizing your expertise in mechanical and technical maintenance. Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on machinery and equipment within the plant.
  • Maintain and repair exterior and interior facilities.
  • Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and internal documentation.
  • Respond to plant emergencies and equipment breakdowns promptly.
  • Utilize computer and maintenance technology for daily tasks and reporting.
  • Adhere to company attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Operate overhead crane/hoist systems safely.
  • Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures and all other safety protocols.
  • Conduct housekeeping and general facility maintenance.
  • Share knowledge and train coworkers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Proficiency in computer and maintenance technology.
  • Ability to understand and respond to verbal and written technical instructions in English.
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills and self-motivation.
  • Ability to function safely in an industrial manufacturing setting, including working shifts and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to interpret and follow equipment manuals in English.
  • Must achieve 80% proficiency on grade progression checklists.
  • Ability to use company-designated personal protective equipment.
  • Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions, prints, and gauges.
  • Ability to perform highly physical tasks, including frequent bending, stooping, twisting, lifting (assisted and unassisted), and standing for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work in various factory environments (heat, cold, noise).
  • Basic computer skills as defined by the company.
  • Maintenance experience and/or certification is preferred.
  • Successful completion of the Athens Plant Maintenance Exam.
