Overview
The Managing Director of Sales plays a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing and guiding a team of Directors of Sales across designated districts or regions. This position focuses on driving sales growth, strengthening dealer partnerships, and ensuring the achievement of business and financial goals within the assigned markets. Reporting to the Regional Vice President of Sales, the Managing Director serves as a vital link facilitating strategy translation, performance management, and execution discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Convert regional sales strategies into clear, actionable priorities and plans at the district and market levels to ensure alignment and effective execution.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to tailor market strategies by analyzing dealer performance, field insights, and competitive trends.
- Identify opportunities and risks within markets, including growth potential and underperformance, and recommend necessary course corrections.
- Lead assigned Directors of Sales to meet sales targets, business results, and profit-and-loss objectives by monitoring progress, addressing barriers, and driving accountability.
- Ensure consistent application of sales techniques, dealer strategies, and corporate initiatives across districts.
- Support financial discipline through expense management, performance analytics, and partnership with finance and operational teams.
- Coach and develop sales directors to enhance leadership skills, business understanding, and execution capabilities.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance organizational health by aligning people, roles, resources, expectations, and incentives to business needs and fostering an engaging culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Drive performance by establishing disciplined reviews, setting clear expectations, and holding leaders accountable to company standards and values.
- Partner cross-functionally with departments like Sales Enablement, Marketing, Product, and Finance to facilitate adoption of new programs and tools and drive strategic initiatives.
- Maintain a strong grasp of market dynamics and dealer needs to optimize relationships and seize business opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with at least eight years of progressive leadership roles in sales, business development, or related fields.
- Proven success in leading teams to deliver business and financial outcomes, including P&L management.
- Skilled in coaching leaders, managing performance, and driving execution discipline.
- Strong analytical capabilities with experience using data and financial insights to inform decision-making.
- Excellent communication, leadership, influence, and change management skills.
- Ability to thrive in dynamic and fast-paced business environments.
- Willingness to travel 50-75% based on operational requirements.
- Residence in or readiness to relocate to Los Angeles, CA.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience as a Director of Sales or in a senior sales leadership role overseeing multiple teams or regions.
- Background in automotive finance, dealer relations, or financial services.
- Experience with sales transformation, organizational change, and cross-departmental partnerships.
- Success in revitalizing underperforming teams or markets and developing future leaders.
- Proficiency in overseeing financial planning, expense management, and business reviews.

- Competitive target compensation of $210,000 plus commission.
