About the Role

As the Sales Tax Manager within the finance team, you will be instrumental in supporting global taxation objectives in Canada. Your work will align with the broader organization's goals by ensuring efficient delivery of sales tax returns, compliance with regulations, and fostering client relationships. Your responsibilities will also focus on upholding internal standards and contributing to an inclusive and high-performing culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive a customer-centric approach to deepen existing client connections and use organizational knowledge and systems effectively.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely submission of sales tax returns for assigned domestic subsidiaries, working under the guidance of the Senior Manager or Director of Sales Tax.
  • Work closely with finance and business teams to gather all necessary data for accurate sales tax filings for both the Bank and its domestic subsidiaries.
  • Support management in handling sales tax audits, including collecting and organizing relevant documentation.
  • Help in providing expert sales tax advice to other business units as needed.
  • Incorporate the Bank’s risk management policies into daily activities and decision-making.
  • Maintain strong business controls to comply with regulatory, operational, and conduct-related requirements.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales tax returns, as well as annual information submissions, for 6 to 7 domestic entities.
  • Compile and analyze data on internal and international transactions to calculate associated tax liabilities.
  • Interact with representatives from the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial authorities as needed.
  • Promote an inclusive and high-performance work environment.

Requirements

  • Professional designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant or equivalent.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of direct experience in Commodity or Indirect Tax.
  • Strong abilities in organization and time management, with proven capability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Alteryx; familiarity with Oracle PeopleSoft is an advantage.
