Role Overview
Mattel’s Ethics & Compliance function is hiring a Manager, Investigations to lead workplace and compliance investigations across the United States. This role calls for a seasoned investigator and employee relations professional who can handle sensitive matters quickly, thoroughly, fairly, and consistently while supporting a culture built on integrity, accountability, and respect. Remote work is available for this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
The position involves leading end-to-end workplace investigations, partnering with business and functional stakeholders, and helping improve compliance processes and employee relations practices.
Workplace Investigations
- Own full-cycle investigations related to harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, policy breaches, and other workplace concerns.
- Collect and assess evidence, interview relevant parties, evaluate credibility, and reach objective conclusions grounded in facts and policy.
- Draft clear investigation records such as interview summaries, case write-ups, findings, and recommended next steps.
- Handle cases promptly while preserving consistency, impartiality, confidentiality, and investigative best practices.
- Share findings, risk insights, and recommendations with Employment Law, People & Culture, and business leaders to support informed action and corrective measures.
- Keep case files accurate and current in Mattel’s centralized case management system.
Stakeholder Partnership
- Act as a dependable advisor to People & Culture Business Partners and business leaders on difficult workplace situations.
- Support conflict resolution and mediation to help resolve concerns and create durable outcomes.
- Develop strong working relationships across the organization and communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
- Handle sensitive employee matters with professionalism, judgment, and strict confidentiality.
Compliance, Risk, and Improvement
- Work with compliance teams to improve investigation workflows, controls, policies, training, and risk-reduction efforts.
- Review patterns and root causes from investigations to shape proactive compliance and employee environment strategies.
- Take part in quarterly reviews with external auditors on investigation matters, controls, and related processes.
- Partner with People & Culture teams to create and deliver training on workplace conduct, investigations, and the employee environment.
- Assist with regional and global investigations when needed, alongside the Senior Director of Global Investigations & Employee Relations and local People & Culture teams.
Qualifications
Candidates should bring extensive workplace investigation experience, strong interviewing and analytical ability, and the confidence to handle sensitive conversations and high-volume caseloads. The role also requires sound judgment, organization, and the ability to work independently while preserving confidentiality.
Preferred Profile
A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience is preferred. Certifications such as AWI-CH, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR are considered an advantage. Experience with NAVEX or similar case management and ethics reporting tools, Spanish language fluency, and exposure to multi-jurisdictional or global investigations are also desirable.
