Job description

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Executive Manager – People & Culture, this role demands strategic and operational leadership across the complete employee lifecycle. You will spearhead a small People & Culture team focused on delivering impactful HR services in a mining and heavy earthmoving environment, guiding workplace culture positively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing expert guidance on employee relations, performance management, and workplace issues.
  • Managing all recruitment processes and workforce planning efforts from start to finish.
  • Supporting leadership development initiatives and fostering employee growth.
  • Handling disciplinary actions, grievances, and industrial relations processes.
  • Ensuring full compliance with Fair Work laws, relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and internal policies.
  • Overseeing onboarding, induction programs, and initiatives that boost employee engagement.
  • Managing HR systems, reports, documentation, and ensuring regulatory adherence.
  • Building collaborative relationships with leaders to support business operational goals.
  • Driving continuous improvements in HR processes and technologies.
  • Providing direction and mentorship to People & Culture team members.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of four years in a senior People & Culture role within mining, resources, heavy industry, or comparable operational settings.
  • Strong familiarity with employment legislation, industrial relations, and up-to-date HR practices.
  • Demonstrated success in employee relations, recruitment, and managing performance processes.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent skills in communication, influencing, and engaging stakeholders.
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sound judgment.
  • High computer literacy and administrative expertise.
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence required.

Desirable Qualifications

  • A degree in Human Resources or related field is considered advantageous.
