Property overview

This position is based at Punthill Narrabundah, an apartment-style hotel in Canberra’s inner south. The property offers 86 rooms and features a gym, pantry, and laundry facilities. It is conveniently located near public transport, includes team parking, and provides direct access to the Hotel Manager. The hotel is close to Canberra Airport, Manuka, Kingston Foreshore, the Parliamentary Triangle, and several major city attractions.

Role summary

The Maintenance Handyperson will help keep the hotel in strong working order by carrying out day-to-day repairs, responding to issues quickly, and supporting the overall presentation and safety of the property. This role suits someone who takes pride in practical work, enjoys variety, and can balance independent tasks with close teamwork.

Key duties

• Carry out a wide range of general maintenance tasks across guest rooms and shared hotel areas.
• Fix apartments, equipment, and common-area fittings and hardware as needed.
• Help diagnose and resolve issues with electrical items such as televisions and air conditioners.
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance situations and keep stock levels for maintenance supplies under control.
• Oversee contractors on site, including compliance checks, inductions, service agreement upkeep, and building audit requirements.
• Work with a strong sense of accountability while also contributing as part of the broader team.
• Support the handling of defects in new building works and help track them through to resolution.
• Use the tools and supplies provided to maintain or improve the condition of the property.
