This role sits within the team delivering property services for DFAT and its global estate. The portfolio covers asset and facilities management for owned properties across 54 countries, with 125 built assets in total.
As Regional Operations Lead for the Pacific portfolio, you will be responsible for the day-to-day and ongoing management of contracted services across the region. The role may be based in Canberra at the DFAT office, or at the Australian Embassies in Port Moresby or Suva.
You will act as the main client-facing contact for regional operational matters, working closely with DFAT’s Estate Management Team, post senior stakeholders, and JLL senior leadership.
Key areas of accountability
- Oversee facilities and property management services, including shared support functions.
- Provide technical support for facilities management delivery.
- Offer technical review and guidance for minor capital works and project Opex delivery.
- Manage financial tracking and reporting for the portfolio.
- Handle additional services requested by DFAT when needed.
- Monitor any services delivered by JLL that sit outside the formal scope of work.
Leadership and service delivery
You will carry overall responsibility for ensuring the regional operations team is appropriately staffed, trained, and supported under the guidance of Senior Facilities Managers so that all contracted services are delivered effectively.
- Provide technical leadership across facilities and property management delivery.
- Encourage fresh thinking and improved methods for delivering services and property outcomes in complex locations.
- Ensure services are delivered according to contract requirements while reducing disruption to post operations, diplomatic visits, and events.
- Develop strong relationships with clients and stakeholders across multiple levels of the organisation.
- Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and high performance through recognition and reward of strong work.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will bring strong multidisciplinary technical capability in both commercial and residential facilities management. You should be a confident communicator with executive presence, strong presentation skills, and clear verbal and written communication.
A background in construction, along with architectural knowledge, would be an advantage. You should also be comfortable leading and mentoring a team, supporting their growth and career development.
Experience working in a diplomatic environment, as well as managing remote teams and remote facilities, is highly desirable.
