Job description
Role overview
Amazon’s operations network is built on speed, precision, and dependable customer service, moving millions of packages every day. To help safeguard this network and keep operations running without interruption, Amazon is hiring a practical, detail-focused Security and Loss Prevention (SLP) Specialist. In this role, you will provide security support as a service across operational sites within the supply chain, helping protect people and reduce loss.
What you will do
- Help strengthen business continuity by supporting emergency response and crisis planning for sites in your assigned area.
- Spot possible weaknesses such as loss exposure, employee experience issues, and process gaps, then help define suitable corrective actions while staying aligned with legal and ethical requirements.
- Act as a contact point and help coordinate risk-control measures with local leaders and external stakeholders such as law enforcement and industry groups for all security-related topics.
- Make sure assigned sites follow Amazon’s global security standards.
Day-to-day responsibilities
You will work with a team of Security and Loss Prevention professionals who deliver security support to business customers across several business units within a defined geographic area. Your work includes carrying out physical security audits and investigating policy breaches, security incidents, and loss events.
To complete investigations, you will gather information by observing systems and tools, reviewing data reports, and speaking with relevant people. The insights you uncover will help identify weak points in processes and support the design of improvement measures.
You will also help maintain the physical security of sites by checking and monitoring system health and working with subject matter experts and outside suppliers to keep equipment and services functioning properly. In addition, you will work daily with external security vendors to ensure strong service delivery and a smooth experience for internal customers.
Another part of the job is serving as a key contact for several internal and external teams, including legal, HR, security vendors, and local law enforcement, while acting as a subject matter resource for Security and Loss Prevention matters.
You will also deliver awareness and training initiatives related to loss prevention and coordinate with stakeholders on policies and procedures across all management levels.
About the team
The Security and Loss Prevention function sits within Global Security Operations and supports Amazon’s business goals and brand strength by protecting against meaningful risks. The team focuses on risks that could endanger associates and customers, interrupt business continuity, damage assets, or harm the company’s reputation.
Working closely with stakeholders, the team helps secure the Amazon supply chain end to end and promotes security in business discussions. It aims to prevent security and loss prevention risks early, respond quickly to active incidents to reduce impact, and investigate events thoroughly to uncover root causes and prevent them from happening again.
Qualifications and experience
To be considered for this role, you should already have experience in one or more of the following areas: security services, asset protection, loss prevention, risk management, inventory management, investigations, supply chain, auditing, compliance, or a closely related field.
You should also have professional experience using Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Fluency in German is required for speaking, reading, and writing, and you must also have business-level English skills, both spoken and written.
Preferred profile
A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in a related subject is preferred. Additional value is placed on experience with physical security practices, including the use of physical security systems, investigation methods, and the management of contract security guards.
Experience in a distribution centre, logistics, or manufacturing environment is advantageous, as is working with data and analytics. A valid driver’s license is also preferred.
Additional information
Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and considers hiring decisions based on experience and skills. The company values diversity and inclusion, and candidates are assessed on their passion to discover, invent, simplify, and build.
Amazon also places strong importance on privacy and the protection of candidate data. More information about data collection, use, and transfer is provided in the company’s privacy notice.
