Job description
Role Overview
Spread Your Wings LLC is looking for an Independent Living Life Skills Coach to support adults with developmental disabilities as they work toward greater confidence and day-to-day independence. This position covers San Jose and nearby communities and can begin as part-time with the potential to move into full-time.
Schedule
The workweek runs Monday through Friday, with a day shift from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Compensation and Perks
- Pay is $22 per hour.
- Monday to Friday daytime schedule.

About the Opportunity

As a Life Skills Mentor/Coach, you will guide people with developmental disabilities as they build practical independent-living abilities and stronger self-confidence.
Key Duties
- Teach and reinforce independent living skills such as cooking, budgeting, and personal hygiene.
- Support clients who may also experience behavioral challenges by offering encouragement and motivation.
- Assist with setting up weekly goals and practical schedules tailored to each client.
- Maintain clear documentation through progress notes and quarterly reporting.
- Spend most of your time in the field with clients, with a smaller portion dedicated to administrative work.
- Work alongside program managers, regional center coordinators, and training personnel.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and dependable transportation are required.
- Spanish and English fluency is required.
- You must be able to travel and work throughout the San Jose area.
- Applicants must be able to pass a background check in line with state and industry standards.
- Basic computer skills are needed, including Microsoft Word, email, and simple data entry.
Preferred Qualities
- A genuine interest in helping others and treating people with dignity and respect.
- Strong communication skills, reliability, and creative problem-solving ability.
- Comfort with flexible hours and changing client needs.
- Confidence working independently in one-on-one settings.
- Prior behavioral health experience is helpful, though not mandatory.
