  • Identifying potential legal and commercial risks while offering practical, business-friendly recommendations.
  • Updating and maintaining contract templates and standard clauses compliant with corporate guidelines.
  • Formulating and revising internal policies, procedures, and codes of conduct to align with applicable laws and group standards.
  • Monitoring regulatory developments within Tanzania and other regional jurisdictions, and providing proactive legal counsel.
  • Supporting anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and data privacy compliance efforts.
  • Managing governance processes for local and regional subsidiaries, including organizing board meetings, resolutions, and statutory filings.
  • Liaising with external legal advisors and company secretarial service providers when required.
  • Ensuring the accurate upkeep of corporate records and legal entity documentation across the region.
  • Offering authoritative legal opinions on dispute matters, claims, and regulatory investigations.
  • Helping coordinate external counsel and arbitration or litigation cases.
  • Creating internal frameworks to prevent disputes and reduce legal risks.
  • Collaborating closely with country managers and functional leaders across the region to address cross-border legal needs consistently and compliantly.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from an accredited university and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (PGDLP) from Tanzania.
  • Between 1 to 2 years of post-qualification experience, ideally within a corporate or commercial law context, either at a law firm or an in-house legal team.
  • Strong knowledge of Tanzanian contract law, company law, and employment law, with additional familiarity of regional legal environments considered an advantage.
  • Practical experience supporting dispute resolution, arbitration, or litigation activities.
  • Proficiency in English at a native level, both written and verbal; command of Swahili is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills paired with the ability to distill complex legal concepts into actionable business advice.
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, and effective at managing stakeholder relationships.

Benefits and Opportunities

  • Engagement in a truly regional role with exposure to multiple legal systems and diverse business cultures.
  • Opportunities for learning, professional growth, and mentoring within the company.
  • A collaborative and inclusive workplace focused on purpose-driven success.
  • A competitive remuneration package that aligns with experience and local standards.
