About the Role

Budmouth Academy is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Officer to join the pastoral team in Weymouth. This role focuses on fostering positive learning attitudes and behaviour among students, supporting their emotional and social well-being, and working closely with teaching and support staff to enhance overall student progress and attendance. Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to on-call requests involving students needing support to return to or be removed from lessons.
  • Provide emotional and social support to students, promoting positive behaviour consistent with the academy's behaviour policy.
  • Assist in general pastoral care, including support for students who are unwell, distressed, or injured.
  • Supervise students during social times to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
  • Manage and coordinate detentions for students removed to the reset room or exhibiting antisocial behaviour.
  • Communicate with parents regarding students who fail to meet behavioural expectations in the Subject Removal Room.
  • Address behaviour, attendance, and pastoral concerns constructively, ensuring clear communication with students, staff, and parents.
  • Maintain a strong presence throughout the academy and assist in helping students regulate emotions and behaviour within lessons when necessary.

Additional Information

  • Workweek consists of 40 hours plus 5 INSET days, operating during term time only.
  • Salary band ranges from Grade F12 to F17 with a starting salary of £26,475 per annum.
