Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a permanent full-time Staff Nurse (37.5 hours weekly) to join the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) at Frimley Park Hospital, part of the Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. The AMU is a 42-bed ward that handles emergency medical admissions, with patient stays typically ranging from 24 to 72 hours.

Work Environment and Learning Opportunities

The role provides the chance to gain experience managing a diverse spectrum of acute medical conditions such as cardiology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, elderly care, endocrinology, and mental health. Working closely with the Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse, you will receive support to deliver safe, compassionate, and effective patient care while learning to coordinate admissions and uphold the highest clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care plans.

  • Adapt to working flexibly across different areas within the department as required, including shifts, weekends, and bank holidays.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered General Nurse with current or pending NMC registration is essential.
  • Prior hospital experience within a UK setting is required.
  • Experience managing change in a healthcare environment is necessary.
  • Previous work with patients having chronic medical conditions is advantageous.

  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to handle stressful or challenging situations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks for self and junior staff and meet deadlines.
  • Capable of training and supervising junior personnel.
