The Medical Office Assistant position, based at the Newmarket Foot Clinic, plays a critical role in delivering exceptional service to patients while supporting physicians and medical personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer telephone calls, warmly welcome patients, and register their details accurately.
- Address patient inquiries both in person and via phone.
- Prepare necessary forms, manage billing, and accept payments for services outside insurance coverage.
- Escort patients to examination or treatment areas and ready them for physician appointments.
- Ensure cleanliness and readiness of exam and treatment rooms between visits.
- Assist with minor medical procedures such as PAP tests, pelvic exams, and IUD insertions.
- Conduct physician-ordered diagnostic tests, including urinalysis.
- Take vital signs like blood pressure using automated devices, measure temperature, height, and weight as directed.
- Schedule patient appointments and communicate schedules effectively.
- Digitize and organize patient documents within electronic medical records systems.
- Handle incoming mail and faxes, distributing appropriately.
- Complete routine chore lists daily, weekly, and monthly as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as required by clinic management.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent mandatory.
- Medical Office Assistant certification considered an advantage.
- Demonstrated recent experience in customer service roles.
- Experience working with Med Access or other electronic medical record software.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Effective problem-solving aptitude.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial.
- Strict adherence to confidentiality and health information privacy regulations.
Additional Information
This full-time position operates on varying shifts including days, evenings, and weekends to accommodate patient needs. The hourly wage ranges from $18.20 to $19.20. There is one vacancy available for immediate hire.
