Role overview
A Manhattan-based law firm is looking for a Legal Administrative Assistant to support its team with day-to-day administrative and legal office tasks. The position requires prior law firm experience and hands-on familiarity with Aderant billing software. The schedule is hybrid, with four days in the office and one day working remotely.
Schedule and compensation
The role follows a 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM workday. Compensation is offered as an $80,000 to $105,000 base salary, with overtime pay and bonus eligibility.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee detailed calendars, arrange meetings, and help coordinate appointments with clients.
- Handle timekeeping, expense reimbursement records, and billing support work in line with internal firm processes.
- Draft engagement letters, memoranda, reports, and other documents used in legal practice.
- Support the preparation and organization of materials for client meetings and presentations.
- Keep both digital and paper client records updated and stored according to firm requirements.
- Manage the signing process for documents and follow through on required approvals and signatures.
- Maintain benefit plan files and related records in an organized manner.
Candidate requirements
- A BA degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Between 3 and 5 years of administrative experience in a law firm is required.
- Experience or familiarity with employee benefits, retirement plans, or similar legal practice areas is advantageous.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office tools, especially Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, is needed.
- Excellent organization, time management, and verbal/written communication abilities are essential.
- The ability to juggle multiple priorities, stay on deadlines, and work with limited supervision is important.
- The candidate must demonstrate professionalism, good judgment, discretion, and the ability to protect confidential information.
Additional notes
Knowledge of Aderant billing software is mandatory for this position.
