Join KPMG New Zealand as a Junior Accountant in the Private Enterprise team in Auckland. What you will do

• Work alongside the Private Enterprise compliance team to help privately owned businesses across New Zealand meet their obligations and goals.
• Support the preparation of annual financial accounts and tax returns, as well as monthly management reporting tasks, starting with simpler clients and work such as data entry, spreadsheet updates, and drafting accounts.
• Handle client questions and assist with relationships connected to income tax, GST, and other indirect taxes.
• Take part in internal or external training to strengthen your accounting knowledge and become more confident using professional accounting software.
• Put classroom learning into practice through day-to-day client work and problem-solving.
• Contribute practical financial guidance that helps businesses improve and grow.
• Balance employment with part-time study as you work toward Chartered Accountant status.
• Look for opportunities to keep developing and progressing within the firm.
• Support the team with administrative duties when required.

• You are a recent school leaver or a first-year student studying accounting at a university, tertiary institution, or through the CAANZ CA Fundamentals pathway, with the intention of completing a Chartered Accountant qualification.

Working arrangement and study support

This role is a permanent position with a base schedule of 37.5 hours per week. It is a paid opportunity intended to support you while you study part time. You may use up to 7.5 hours of unpaid study leave each week to attend tertiary classes, along with paid study leave for exam preparation and internal assessments. Flexible part-time study arrangements are available to help you manage work, study, and social commitments over a longer period of study completion. Equivalent support is also available for candidates pursuing postgraduate CA professional qualifications.
